FAMILY BAT WALK -
8:30pm 2miles / 2hrs / Easy
Ramble with the Rangers on a walk through Craigengillan Estate and discover the fascinating world of bats. Bat detectors provided but please bring a torch.
SATURDAY 20 AUGUST
THE RHINNS O’KELLS CHALLENGE CUP -
8am / Meet at Doon Valley Museum 18miles / 7hrs / Strenuous
Can you conquer the Nine Tops? Enjoy spectacular views from some of the highest hills in the Galloways. 1400m of ascent and 1150m of descent between Forest Glen and Loch Doon.
The route is supported by Mountain Rescue. Entry fee £12 including prestigious t-shirt, medal, transport and refreshments. Prize giving at the Eglinton Hotel. Booking essential. Registration on the day.
PRAM WALK PICNIC AT THE PUNCH TREE
11am / 2miles / 1.5hrs / Easy
Take a stroll with your strider into the beautiful Craigengillan estate. The Ranger-led route will take you up to Postman’s Brig where you can stop for a picnic at the famous Punch tree, before heading back to the community centre. Bring a packed lunch.
MUCK BURN BUGS & BEASTIES
2pm / 1mile / 2hrs / Easy
Join the Rangers for a river dip and bug hunt at the Muck Burn. Equipment provided but please wear wellies!
SUNDAY 21 AUGUST
BEN BEOCH CRAIG WALK
9.30am 8 Miles 5hrs Moderate-Strenuous
Join James Wood for an enjoyable walk through the local countryside returning back through Camlarg.
LOCH DOON LOOP
10am / 7miles / 5hrs / Moderate-Strenuous
Enjoy some of the area’s most beautiful scenery and wildlife with Louise Murdoch and her enthusiastic assistant Matthew Sinclair. You’ll be taking in the Roman Road, Penny Arthur Heights, Ness Glen, Fort Carrick Observatory and Craigengillan Estate.
12noon-1pm & 2pm-3pm
Meet at the Scottish Industrial Railway Centre, Dunaskin 1mile / 1hr / Easy
Join the Rangers for a walk and explore the area around the Scottish Industrial Railway Centre at Dunaskin. We’ll be taking a closer look at wildlife with fun nature activities. Suitable for families and o-road buggies.

Please Note: All walks/events are free unless stated otherwise. Please arrive 15mins prior to start time for registration. All walks start from Dalmellington Community Centre, unless otherwise stated. All participants will be given a FREE RAFFLE TICKET and the draw will be held at the next Community Council Meeting. Prizes sponsored by the local community.
All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear appropriate footwear and clothing.
