This exhibition features a broad selection of works by Glasgow based artist John Taylor, showcasing a 55 year retrospective.

John Taylor was born in Darvel, Ayrshire, and educated at Kilmarnock Academy before attending the Glasgow School of Art.  Throughout his career, he has played a significant role at the cutting edge of Glasgow’s development as a centre for contemporary art.

Taylor won the Robert Colquhoun Memorial competition in 1978 with the painting ‘Tucker 2’, an abstract watercolour, which is featured in this exhibition alongside a range of works which demonstrate the artist’s breadth of practise and versatility throughout his long and prolific career.   Urban and rural landscape paintings are seen alongside bold abstract prints, his work often motivated by reaction to social and political issues such as his strong anti-war stance or anger about social injustice.
