East Ayrshire hosts a variety of festivals throughout the year that offer something for a wide range of interests.

Imprint  East Ayrshire Book Festival has welcomed some of the biggest names in fiction to discuss their work with appreciative audiences. From Joanne Harris & Louise Welsh to Ian Rankin, Val McDermid, Alex Gray, Kirsty Wark and Tony Robinson. The festival also supports Gaelic events and hosts children's events with a literary theme from parties to workshops and school events there is something for everyone.

 

The Kilmarnock Edition Festival has welcomed the likes of The View, Calvin Harris, Amy Macdonald, Idlewild, Glasvegas, Eddi Reader and Camera Obscura to the Grand Hall, home of the Ballroom Blitz, as well as supporting many local bands such as Fatherson and Mechanical Smile.

Our Countryside Ranger team organise a range of outdoor festivals throughout the year across East Ayrshire. Learn more about our wildlife and diverse habitats, rich social and industrial heritage, local landmarks and all things rural. Dean Castle Country Park also hosts an annual Harvest Festival.

 

Dumfries House once again hosts Boswell Book Festival of biography and memoir. The opening evening features a champagne reception in the charming company of actor Nigel Havers whose acting career that has taken him from Oscar winning Chariots of Fire to Coronation Street. Brave. Funny. Famous. Handsome - Nigel Havers is the real-life charmer you might expect.

The Children's Festival returns welcoming Nick Sharratt, Nicola Davies, Vivian French, Harriet Burbeck, Debi Gliori,  Mick Manning & Brita Granström among others.

The Royal Drawing School also returns with their popular workshops - drop in and draw with practising artists from the Royal Drawing School in a pop-up studio in The Rothesay Room. All materials are provided free of charge. Spaces are limited so guarantee your place by booking through the Festival Box Office.

Saturday's event features Simon Sebag Montefiori, Richard Ingrams, star of stage and screen Alex Norton, Richard Holmes and many more. On Sunday join 2015 Great British Bake Off runner-up Flora Shedden for cake and coffee as she discusses her new book.
