Collections and Resources

´╗┐Our Libraries and Museums have numerous local and special collections specific to the area’s history.

The main local history collection is the Ayrshire Collection, which is a vast collection of books, pamphlets, magazines and directories relating to the county. Within this collection we have Special Collections such as 19th Century Kilmarnock Periodicals and Books Printed in Ayrshire from 1780. Other significant Special Collections include The Boswell Collection, The Buchanan Bequest, and the Braidwood Collection.

Local history resources include a collection of Ayrshire newspapers on microfilm from 1830 to the present day, and a vast collection of photographs and postcards of the area’s towns and villages.
