Take the East Ayrshire Leisure Summer Reading Challenge

Are you ready for a challenge?

Solve the mystery of this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. The Reading Challenge, sponsored by TESCO Bank is taking place in your local library and runs from 17 June - 31 August for children aged 5-13yrs old.

Run by The Reading Agency Charity in partnership with TESCO Bank and library services across Scotland, the Challenge involves children reading six books during the summer holidays, a time when children's literacy skills can dip. Last year over 390 children in East Ayrshire participated in the challenge, this year we are hoping for even more!

This year’s challenge has an Animal Agents theme, with a whole host of clever creatures ready to solve all kinds of crimes! This band of furry, slippery and feathered friends is specially trained to use their skills and natural instincts to unravel mysteries – with a huge helping of fun along the way.

Our libraries are stocked with a range of fantastic new books for children and young people. From story-sacks for younger children to books by popular authors and graphic novels, there’s something to suit all ages.

Sign up for The Summer Reading Challenge and Collect stickers and rewards along the way. There will be lots of fun activities too. Lists of these activities, dates, places and how to book will be available at: What's On
