The Words of Keir Hardie – 100 Years On
Join East Ayrshire Leisure for a very special event marking the anniversary of Keir Hardie’s death on Saturday 26 September between 6pm and 7.30pm – refreshments provided.
Hosted by Stanley Sarsfield, with guest speakers Cathy Jamieson (President of the Keir Hardie Society) and acclaimed poet Rab Wilson, in what promises to be a fitting tribute to the great man.
In his lifetime, Keir Hardie’s unflinching socialist ideals reached many people at home and abroad, through his speeches and writings. One hundred years after his death, his words live on and continue to inspire people across the political spectrum. Throughout the evening we will hear about Hardie’s political views, his tenderness and longing for his family and his home in Cumnock.
‘The Words of Keir Hardie’ will include exclusive new recordings of Keir Hardie’s words by actor David Hayman as well as an art installation project.
