Sad Loss of Local Literary Legend

It is with great sadness that we post this message, to mark the passing of William McIlvanney at the weekend.

Willie was Patron and friend of Imprint from the very early days of the festival and over the years he has entertained crowds both young and old – who can forget his rendition of the tale of bumping into a lost Frankenstein after a night out, or his beautiful and poignant tale of his mother and aunts growing up in Kilmarnock.

Willie was not only a literary legend, but also a true gent and it was always a real pleasure to spend time with him. He will be sorely missed.

Our thoughts are with all his friends and family.
