Imprint Writing Award

This year the Imprint Writing Award has been revamped and regenerated to give creative writers the chance to express themselves in the format they feel most inspired by. New formats include:

  • Story (fiction or narrative non-fiction)
  • Poem
  • Play
  • Comic strip
  • Letter

The award is open to anyone based in Ayrshire aged 16yrs+.

Stories have a limit of 1500 words, there’s no word limit for other forms.

All works should be previously unpublished.

Please contact for an application form or drop in to the Dick Institute or your local library to pick up a form.

The writing award was created to help encourage and support emerging Ayrshire writers. Imprint patron, Zoe Strachan, along with her colleagues at the University of Glasgow’s Edwin Morgan School of Creative Writing, will be judging three categories Story, Poetry and Other. Each category will have a winner and a runner up, the winner will receive £125 and the runners up receive £50 each. Winners will be announced on Thursday 28 November at a special Imprint Writing Awards ceremony.
