The Dick Institute
Please note that the Audio-Visual and Young People’s Libraries in the Dick Institute will be closed from Saturday 26th May for a period of 12 weeks to accommodate the first phase of the library refurbishment programme. A limited selection of stock from these departments will be available in the Adult Lending Library during this time. There will also be reduced computer access during this period. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Opened in 1901, the Dick Institute is one of the most important cultural venues in the south-west of Scotland, featuring the largest museum and galleries space in Ayrshire as well as East Ayrshire's central library.
The lending library, audio library, junior library and learning centre are all housed on the ground floor. The library offers a host of resources as well as regular Bookbug sessions, meet the author events and much more.
I love My Library because... "My two children can colour in, select their favourite DVDs and read literally dozens of books; we come every week and there is always something new to see & do!" Ian Heron Kilmarnock (Winner National Library Day Slogan - Dick Institute)
Library members and visitors can use laptops, mobile devices and phones to access free Wi-Fi at the Dick Insitute and the following local libraries:-
This project is supported by the Scottish Government Public Library Improvement Fund
