Family History

The Registration Services team, based at the Burns Monument Centre, is one of only six genealogy centres in Scotland offering access to Scotland's People, https://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/. If you wish to find out more about your family tree then Scotland's People will be your first point of research. To access Scotland’s People please contact Registration Services on 01563 576695/6 or email  registrar@east-ayrshire.gov.uk.

In addition the Local and Family History Department at the Burns Monument Centre care for the reference material that make up the local history collections. Resources include newspapers, valuation rolls, trade directories and kirk session records. The collections can help to provide a context of the political and social environments in which your ancestors lived. You can use the local and family history collections either by dropping into the Centre, or by phone: 01563 553654.
