New Mobile Libraries Officially Launched
Councillor Elena Whitham board member of East Ayrshire Leisure and Leader of East Ayrshire Council, Douglas Reid, formally unveiled East Ayrshire Leisure's brand new mobile library vans at the Dick Institute yesterday.
The cheerful vans, in their brand new livery, came into service in late April, allowing East Ayrshire Leisure to offer an improved and extended service to current and new users.
The new Low Floor vans allow easy access for wheel chairs and those with reduced mobility. As well as many community stops, the vans will also visit primary schools and early childhood centres. If you would like to access the mobile service, the new timetables are available to view on our dedicated mobiles page here.
East Ayrshire Leisure continues to invest in new book stock across our libraries and this means that we have constantly changing new books within the mobile libraries. You're sure to find something to keep you reading until the library comes round next time. Both vans are also wi-fi enabled.
Councillor Witham told us " Being smaller, the new vans will be able to park more easily and should therefore be able to reach more people. Together with the 'Homewords' service this will allow us to bring books to even more members of the community, which is very important." Cllr Witham added "with their eye catching branding, users certainly won't miss them!"
Councillor Reid was also delighted with the new vans and he commented "The extended timetable takes in nurseries, childhood centres and community centres, allowing us to bring books and services to even more people."
