Palace Theatre’s Sleeping Beauty nominated for Awards

The Palace Theatre and Imagine theatre are delighted to announce that the Sleeping Beauty cast and production team have been nominated for not one, but two awards at this year’s Great British Pantomime Awards – for Best Dame and for Musical Achievement.

The Great British Pantomime Awards are a yearly celebration of all the professional Pantomime’s across Britain. Judges are selected from a range of backgrounds for their knowledge and passion for pantomime, these include but are not exclusive of industry professionals; both current and retired, theatre academics, media and communication professionals and members of the public who have been selected for their enthusiasm and understanding of Pantomime.

Fraser Boyle, the Palace Theatre’s resident dame, earned a spot as one of the top 5 five dames in the country with his performance as Nurse Senga in this year’s production of Sleeping Beauty. It was Fraser’s third year at the Palace Theatre and he is delighted to return this year for Cinderella.

Fraser’s a Fifer living in Glasgow but considers Ayrshire a home away from home. He graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a BA in Acting, winning the Tricia Scott Prize and has been performing and writing for theatre audiences in a variety of roles ever since. Fraser has also worked in TV, radio and film, working with companies on a variety of projects from the BBC to Bollywood! Most recently he co-wrote The Dolls Dragged Up, the second tour from Scottish comedy duo The Dolls.

Stephen Power, Musical Arranger for Imagine Theatre, has been nominated for the Musical Achievement Award. Combining hits like A Million Dreams, Respect and Trouble with other musical arrangements he created an award worthy panto.  

Stephen has been Musical Director on various pantomimes for the last 20 years. From 2012, his role as Musical Supervisor for First Family saw him creating and producing the music for 50 productions across the UK. First Family closing last year, has given Stephen the opportunity to take on the role of Musical Arranger for Imagine.
