Bringing the Library to Your Community
Exciting news!! East Ayrshire Leisure’s mobile library is hitting the road again and visiting more local communities than ever before while our local libraries remain closed under lockdown restrictions. From Monday 15th February, the mobile library will be returning on a “Reserve & Collect” basis but you will need to book a time slot to visit.
Books and reading are recognised as essential to the wellbeing of communities and as a free service, libraries play a critical role. Libraries are now allowed to operate outdoors and on an appointment basis. All government guidelines are being strictly followed to maintain safety for our customers and staff.
From Tuesday 9th February, you can contact the Dick Institute on 01563 554320 to book a time slot to visit the mobile library. The phone lines will then be open Monday - Friday from 10am - 4pm.
You can reserve stock from the online catalogue (max 3 items per customer, selecting to reserve from the Dick Institute) before telephoning to book a time slot. If you just can't decide or want to try something new, you can ask the Libraries team to make a selection for you.
Please note that you will need to book your time slot 6 days in advance to allow time to process requests and for books to be quarantined after handling for the safety of our customers and staff.
Book returns can also be made by booking a time slot.
We are supporting NHS Scotland’s Test and Protect – booking information will be retained for 21 days for this purpose.
