Libraries Re-Open

We have missed our library members over the last months and would like to offer a warm welcome back to our customers and hope that as time progresses, we can return to normal conditions. We know our customers have missed visiting our venues and borrowing books, and therefore we anticipate demand to be extremely high when we re-open our libraries. With this in mind, we thank you in advance for your patience in using our services during the initial period of service, where we are introducing systems and processes that are new to us and to you. Please know that we are working hard to deliver library services in these unusual circumstances, and would ask that members show kindness and understanding to our staff throughout this period of change.

In line with Scottish Government guidelines and in order to ensure the safety of our staff and customers, in the first instance we will be opening four hub libraries and re-routing our two Mobile Libraries for a pre-booked RESERVE and COLLECT service ONLY.

Until we are able to resume normal service, we have introduced a number of control measures which must be adhered to at all times to keep customers and staff as safe as possible. Please take the time to read the information below.

MOBILE LIBRARIES

Our South and North Mobile Libraries have had their routes altered for the time being and we have drafted the route to try to reach as many communities as possible, who live in areas most remote to the hub libraries. We will review the routes on a fortnightly basis in relation to customer demand and will endeavour to respond to enquiries wherever possible. Please follow the signage and guidance from our Mobile Library drivers when using this service. The updated timetables can be viewed by clicking the link below.

Mobile Library Timetable

GIVING YOU CONFIDENCE

We want to reassure our library customers that we are following strict quarantine guidelines with returned books being placed into storage for 72 hours before being returned to stock rotation. On site, we have introduced one way systems with sanitisation stations at the point of entry and exit for customers to make use of.

We ask that if you develop any symptoms associated with COVID-19 prior to your collection timeslot, that you cancel and should you develop any symptoms following your collection that you inform us immediately to allow contact tracing. You can do this by contacting the Dick Institute on 01563 554310.

Please take note of the following information & safety measures and ensure that they are adhered to at all times.

Facilities

Until we are able to resume normal service, we have introduced these control measures which must be adhered to at all times to keep customers and staff as safe as possible. We need your support and patience in these difficult times and we hope you will respect that our staff are keen to assist but East Ayrshire Leisure will not allow staff to be placed in a position of unacceptable risk.  The information above has been prepared to meet the Scottish Government/Scottish Libraries Information Council guidance and legislation. East Ayrshire Leisure reserve the right to remove any individual who is found to be knowingly in breach of the guidance or the spirit of this guidance and will not hesitate to do so.

Finally, please be reassured that we will be carefully monitoring the implementation and impact of these controls and will amend and improve practice for the benefit of all wherever and whenever possible.
