Switch to Re-usable Milk Bottles @ Treehouse Café and Dick Institute Café

In December 2021 our hospitality team switched from using single-use plastic milk bottles, to re-usable glass ones at Dean Castle Country Park’s Treehouse Café and the Dick Institute Café. The change is one of many ongoing initiatives that East Ayrshire Leisure are implementing to minimise our environmental impact.

We have teamed up with our local Tarbolton based provider “Mossgiel Farm” who are pioneering a more sustainable production and provision of milk across East Ayrshire. Not only have Mossgiel removed single-use plastics from their production line entirely but they also only produce premium fresh organic award winning milk; so it’s not only sustainable but tastier too. This combined with delivery, and collection of the bottles after use, via an all “Electric Fleet” makes Mossgiel Farm a great partner to have in our goals to Protect the Environment.

Our switch to re-usable bottles will be preventing the disposal of 1664 single-use plastics a year! Small steps can make a big change.
