Whatriggs Library

After consultation with the school Whatriggs Library has been handed back to the school to manage as of 12th June 2023. This will be of huge benefit to the school, as reading spaces play a valuable role in supporting literacy levels both in school and at home. The library will house curated collections of resources to benefit pupils’ learning and development.

We will be offering an enhanced library and digital service in the area through the mobile library and digital bus, making sure we become more responsive to community needs. The mobile library will make fortnightly visits to Bellfield shops on Fridays 12.15-1.15pm beginning  23rd June 2023.

The nearest library is Dick Institute in Kilmarnock which is open 5 days per week and offers PC access, a café, museum and gallery as well as book lending. Library members will also continue to have access to a wide range of free ebooks, audio books and emagazines and newspapers through free apps which are available through the BorrowBox and Libby apps.

The library offers a wide choice of books for readers of all ages  -  fiction, poetry, photography, art, reference, graphic novels and more.

If you can't find what you're looking for, ask about our request service.

The library also offers safe computer use and internet access, plus printing services and access to eBooks, eAudio, eMagazines and eNewspapers. Our online catalogue allows library members to renew, reserve and search loans.

Membership is free and open to everyone including visitors to East Ayrshire. Adult members can borrow up to 8 books and 6 audio books at any one time, and our younger members can borrow up to 5 books and 2 audio books.

To join you must complete a membership form and provide 2 forms of ID (one with a signature and one with your name and address or a photographic driving licence will cover both requirements) Young people's memberships have to be guaranteed by a parent/guardian (with ID if you are not already a member)

Membership also allows you to access Borrowbox - the most mobile library of them all! Download it from the App Store or Google Play on to your device for free and have access to your favourite authors 24/7. You'll also be able to read enewspapers and emagazines using the Libby app.
