Call for Malkys
As part of preparations for the forthcoming exhibition Malky McCormick: A Life in Colour, opening in February 2026, East Ayrshire Leisure is seeking to document and digitally preserve original artwork created by McCormick for individuals, families, and organisations across Kilmarnock and beyond.
Members of the public are encouraged to bring along any original Malky McCormick pieces in their possession. These will be scanned on-site and returned immediately. The event is being delivered in partnership with local historians Frank Spence and Frank Beattie, who will assist with the scanning and cataloguing process. The resulting digital records will form part of East Ayrshire Leisure Trust’s Malky McCormick archive, with selected works potentially featured in the community section of the exhibition.
This initiative offers a valuable opportunity to celebrate McCormick’s connection with the people of Kilmarnock and help preserve his legacy for future generations. Particular interest lies in personal pieces that reflect his humour, artistic style, and community ties.
Please note that only digital scans will be taken on the day; no physical artworks will be retained.
