East Ayrshire Leisure is delighted to present A Road Well Travelled, an exhibition by Ayrshire artist Jack Rigg, at The Baird Institute, Cumnock. Running from 18th January to 19th April 2025, this captivating collection of oil landscapes explores the historic journey between Mossgiel near Mauchline and Ellisland near Dumfries—a route famously travelled by Robert Burns. Jack’s work captures the timeless beauty of the Scottish landscape, showcasing scenes Burns and his contemporaries might have recognised, while weaving in the artist’s own family connections to the poet.
The exhibition launches just before Burns Night, making it a fitting tribute to Scotland’s national bard. Visitors are warmly invited to the opening event on Thursday 23rd January, from 5:00 - 6:30 pm, where you can meet the artist and learn more about the stories behind his work. Copies of Jack Rigg’s new book, A Road Well Travelled, which expands on the exhibition’s themes, will also be available.
Admission is free, and we encourage everyone to experience this remarkable blend of art, history, and heritage.
