THE LAND - Society of Scottish Artists
The Dick Institute is proud to host The Land, a thought-provoking exhibition presented in collaboration with the Society of Scottish Artists (SSA). Bringing together selected works from over forty SSA members and invited artist Calum Wallis, this exhibition explores our deep and complex relationships with the landscapes we inhabit.
Through a variety of creative approaches, the exhibition explores how contemporary artists respond to the concept of ‘land’ reflecting on how it shapes our identities, histories, and future. As we navigate global challenges such as climate breakdown and biodiversity loss, The Land offers an opportunity to consider themes of sustainability, stewardship, and the interconnectedness of ecological and human systems.
Inspired by the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 15: Life on Land, the exhibition highlights the importance of protecting and restoring ecosystems. By engaging with these urgent issues, the artists invite visitors to reflect on their own connections to the environment and the role we all play in its care.
