A New Arrival at Dean Castle Country Park
A new sculpture has found a home at Dean Castle Country Park’s Rural Life Centre. Duncan was donated to East Ayrshire Leisure by local artist, George Duff.
George said “We have lived near the park for many years. My wife Margaret was a childminder for 25 years and during that time spent almost every day at Dean Castle Country Park with the children taking them for walks and picnics. I wanted to give something back to the park on her behalf”
Duncan the ram took about 4 months to make and his frame was made in cardboard initially to get the right shape. He was constructed using an aluminium composite frame covered in a waterproof membrane with marble chips held in place with an epoxy resin. The horns were donated to George from a friend who has a hill farm near Eaglesham. Duncan is already proving to be a popular addition to the Country Park and will also be used for education purposes.
George has an engineering background which has allowed him to create a range of beautiful pieces. Check them out on his website https://www.hummingbirdsculptures.com/
