Kilmarnock Infinity Loop Consulation

The Kilmarnock 'Green Infinity Loop is a ‘figure of eight’ network of pathways comprising 26km circular route around the town with a Spinal Route from north to south through the town centre, linking into the circular route.

The circular route will provide connections between different communities on the outskirts of the town, offering greater access to local facilities. This route will also provide connections to the wider path network including the Core Path Network and the National Cycle Network. The route will be made up primarily of off-road cycle routes, either shared access pavements or routes built to Cycling Scotland standards. It will have a few sections which will be on roads within 20mph and 30mph zones.  The development of The Spinal Route will provide direct access to public transport facilities, the Kilmarnock Active Travel Hub, all of our major parks and the facilities associated with the town centre. It will also allow for a ‘figure of eight’ route providing greater choice for locals and visitors using the Green Infrastructure network. The spinal route will be used to celebrate the life and work of one of Kilmarnock’s most famous sons, Johnnie Walker, and will encourage users of the route to visit and explore some significant sites and places of interest.

Our consultation survey is now closed but you can still read more about the project and the routes below.
