Roll Out the Barrel
East Ayrshire Leisure Trust and Doghouse Installations Join Forces on Community Events
East Ayrshire Leisure is excited to collaborate with Doghouse Installations in the delivery of our up and coming community events. Known for our dedication to improving community engagement and well-being through cultural and recreational activities, we have teamed up with the Ayrshire based business, renowned for its innovative use of whisky barrels in furniture and culinary ventures.
Doghouse Installations, led by entrepreneur Ross Weir, has gained recognition for repurposing whisky barrels to create unique furniture pieces and smoking chunks for barbecue enthusiasts. Their work with East Ayrshire Leisure will see the incorporation of these barrels into large community events and future craftwork and parkland based projects. Ross has been a key fundraiser in Ayrshire, raising over £250,000 to help a sick child in his community.
Notable events where Doghouse Installations' barrels will play a significant role are Live @ The Dean music festival (Saturday 18 May) and the Tastes of Ayrshire food festival (Sunday 19 May), which form two days of East Ayrshire Leisure's Mayfest weekend. The barrels will also form part of the hospitality provision for the UEFA EURO 2024 FanZone. Attendees can enjoy the games on a giant screen while savouring street food and beverages in a vibrant atmosphere. The use of whisky barrel tables will add a touch of rustic charm, creating an unforgettable experience for football fans and families alike.
Additionally, Doghouse Installations' barrels will contribute to other community projects, including country park planters and various initiatives aimed at fostering community engagement. Doghouse’s innovative approach to repurposing whisky barrels aligns perfectly with East Ayrshire Leisure’s commitment to sustainability and creativity.
This collaboration demonstrates a real taste and spirit for innovation and sustainability, paving the way for future local partnership working.
