Friends of the Dean
It’s easy to get more involved with what’s going on at Dean Castle Country Park.
If you love being outdoors whatever the weather, learning new skills and doing practical work, then being a Friend of the Dean could be the volunteer role for you. It's a great opportunity to make a difference by keeping the Park looking great & encouraging wildlife to flourish.
We are proud to announce that we have received funding from Action Earth Volunteering Matters. This grant will allow us to revitalise the old sensory garden by the playpark with new fruit trees, herbs and flowers, for the benefit of both wildlife and people. In order to do this we need your help! Our autumn programme of Friends activities will concentrate on this exciting project and we hope that you can lend us a hand – whether it’s with repairing the boardwalk, planting up the garden or just some good old fashioned weeding, your support and efforts will be much appreciated.
We want to keep you safe during any of our volunteering tasks. While the coronavirus pandemic continues, the number of volunteers that can take part in an activity will be limited to 4 households. We ask that you book your sessions with the Friends of the Dean in advance by telephoning 07469 406 348 or email Laura.McMeekin@eastayrshireleisure.com. If you have been shielding during the pandemic, it is still possible for you to volunteer with the Friends.
We have a new programme of activities for September and October which will complete the project before winter sets in.
